This three-night Rwanda gorilla trekking safari offers the experience of a lifetime – encountering these incredible primates in their native habitat. Your safari starts in Kigali, Rwanda’s scenic capital that sprawls over verdant green hills. From there, you’ll drive approximately two and a half hours to Volcanoes National Park. Your gorilla trekking experience begins early in the morning, as you make your way on foot to the family group that you have been designated to visit with that day. You’ll spend a maximum of one hour with the gorillas – a rule put in place to ensure sustainable encounters – where you’ll watch these incredible creatures go about their lives. Your accommodation for this trip includes a lovely city hotel in Kigali and a stunning lodge just outside Volcanoes National Park, where you can enjoy some pampering before and after your trek. Please note that this safari is only suitable for those in good physical fitness, as you may have to trek for several hours through dense forest before encountering the gorillas.

Arrival

You’ll be picked at the airport by your private Uganda Gorilla Tracking Tour driver who will transfer you to your booked hotel in Entebbe/Kampala. Accommodation before the trip begins the next day can be arranged for you exclusive of the trip quote.

Day 1Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Fly to Kisoro then drive 2 hours to Bwindi — Entebbe to Kisoro Airstrip or
Drive to Bwindi (8-9 hours) via Mbarara, Kabale then Kisoro

After your early breakfast, your private Uganda Gorilla Tracking Tour guide will transfer you to the airport for your chartered flight to Kisoro or drive you through the beautiful western Uganda hills and valleys dubbed “Switzerland of Africa” to your forest lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Check into your lodge and evening activities at the lodge.

Day 2Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This day is the main highlight of the Uganda Gorilla Tracking Tour within the misty jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Savor every moment you spend in the jungle. Ask your Uganda safari guide not to rush you, smell the leaves and flowers, look and far, breathe deep, this forest is alive and will purify your soul.

Breakfast will be served early at 06:30 and packed lunch provided. Drive to the Park Headquarters for registration of your gorilla permit details with the Park Authority. You will be assigned a gorilla group under the guidance of a ranger to partake in the tracking.

The ranger and a guide will lead the group (8 people) and brief you about the tracking rules and regulations. Tracking will commence at 08:00. It can take 2-8 hours before mountain gorillas can be found. You will be allowed one hour in the company of the animals.

At the end of the Uganda Gorilla Tracking Tour adventure in the jungle, you are awarded a mountain gorilla tracking certificate from the Park Offices. Return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3Travel to Entebbe/Kampala

After breakfast, you can take your return journey back to Entebbe by road or local flight arriving right in time for your flight back home. You can also choose to drive to the closes Kigali city in neighboring Rwanda (3-4 hours) to catch your flight back home.

If you chose road transfer, the launch will be had en-route.
